For MONTHS now, 3 of my 10 neons have shown odd signs that I have attributed to fungus.
The thing is, none seem upset or distressed, they don't itch, no other fish is affected and the problem seems quite static- no spreading, no worsening, fish feed and swim as normal. Water stats have been tested in the time they have been suffering with the problem and were all fine for nitrite, nitrate and Ph.
They live with 2 very small goldeneyed cichlids and 2 large placid elegant corys. Regular water changes, plants.
Two of the fish have what I thought was mouth fungus, a white lump on their lower jaw. One has a larger lump than the other.
One of them has a small white cotton wool type patch near the tail- again I suspected fungus.
I treated them with finrot and fungus medication. The one with the smaller mouth lump looked improved, then it went back to how it was before. The others were unchanged.
I treated them again within the recommended time and nothing has happened.
I read my books and picked treatment based on what the descriptions suggested. I though about velvet but would that be so localised and affecting the mouth of the fish alone in some cases?
Can fungus be particularly stubborn? Should I try a different treatment- it's an unsightly affliction if nothing else!
