they have been chasing each other all the time. I read in a book that if male guppies are left in a tank all by themselves they will tear each others tails, so i'm kind of worried now.

The tank is a 12g guppy only tank. Should i put few mollies or swordtails as well in the tank to calm the guppies? I don't want to get female guppies because otherwise I have to get 8 female guppies (1 male:2 female) which will overcrowd my tank.

any suggestions will be appreciated because i would really hate my guppies to tear each others tails.

I have had nothing but male gups before and no harm was done to them...so if u don't want a bunch of fry keep all males..I know alot of people that only have males.

Have a ten gal right now with 7 males - no females and some cory cats. No fin nipping at all - any tears in tails I would most likely attribute to water quality or ornament snags...

Me too has never had problems with my male gups, but some can be more aggressive than others(happens with all fish). what i would reccomend is adding more shelter/plants to seperate them up abit and to add for protection when being bullied.
