I Hate To Ask, But...

I picked up a trio of platies recently, and they seem to have wasted no time, since both females are clearly pregnant.

The thing is, the male's been acting weird today. He was swimming around in the faces of random fish and seemed to be trying to mate with them. He likes the danios especially, but made his rounds to just about the whole tank. Not just fish, either. He showed off to the filter intake and actually seemed to like the response he got from crypt leaves.

Is this something I should be worried about, or is he just a bit worked up?

I wouldnt be worried at all...as helterskelter said...very normal....my mollies try to mate with each other all the time...and even try it on with the platy now and then....my daughter keeps saying... 'Those mollies are gay' (she's only 9)

I had a feeling it was normal. I'd heard of platys and mollys mating, even though they can't breed, so I figured the males just weren't very picky. I'm glad he's enjoying himself, I just don't look forward to my niece asking, "What's that red one doing to that rock?"
