I'm new, I don't have a digital camera or a webcam or anything fancy like.
I thought this was a really good site to find info about fish from others' experiences

This is my first post
i've had a 10 gallon tank for about 3 months
...and I recently (about a month ago) acquired a cheap 33 gallon tank from a
generous friend of mine, $40, with almost everything except plants and fish, an offer I couldn't refuse. Sure it was a bit dirty and had been sittin' around for a while...but I cleaned it all up and it's lookin' good now

10 gallon Cold water tank (room temperature)
3 funny swimming big headed goldfish
1 snail

33 gallon (long) tank (36x18x12)
4 tiger barbs
3 Peppered cories
2 Blue Ram Cichlids
1 white Molly
1 Pleco
1 I.D shark
1 Clown loach
1 Buenos Aires Tetra

1 gallon hex
1 Male Betta

I want to get a few more Buenos aires tetras
a few more loaches
maybe another I.D
and I want to get rid of my molly, not kill, just give away or something
not really sure yet
don't want to overcrowd my tank cuz it's not THAT big

:hi: to this forum. I'm surprised nobody welcomed you yet.

Anywho, it seems like you're definitely not a newbie when it comes to the hobby. However, if the I.D. is an iridescent shark, how are you going to care for it when it gets past its juvenile stage?

welcome! about the buenos aires tetras...stay away from them!!! they are messy, eat plants, fin nippers!!! i regret taking mine of my friend

I am a real-life friend of Jeef's :D . His fish tank looks sweet right now -- can't believe he got it for $40 bucks :alien: I'm green with jealousy!!!

His crazy tetra has been so hardy though...it helped him cycle the small tank, it got that disease that's supposedly uncurable (cysts?)...... and it doesn't nip the other guys.

Hi jeef :D

Welcome to the forum! :hi:

I'll be looking for your posts.

I would say Welcome, but this is my first day here, so welcome to me too:) As for the Buenos Aires Tetras, they're vicious and very very messy. And it's true that they eat plants. That being said, they're amazing to watch and they're tremendously hardy. I've had mine for over 6 months with no problems at all (while I've had some of the other fish in the tank pass on). They will nip/eat other fish though, so be careful what you have in there with yours. I feed mine feeder guppies for treats, and the loaches I keep in the tank are pretty vicious themselves (they killed one of my kuhli's so I had to move the kuhli's to another tank, and the woman who sold me them said that they had eaten a blue lobster the week before). Another note, the rule of feeding them all they can eat in a few minutes a few times a day doesn't hold true for the buenos aires. I've found that feeding them once a day all that they can eat in about 2 minutes does the trick. It keeps the waste down as well. Good luck, and don't be affraid of the Buenos Aires! Just know that you have to be careful who you put them in with.
