There are lots of colour varieties of this species ;- http://www.aqualandpetsplus.com/Gouramis,%...ichogasters.htm

How big is the tank - mature males get very bolshy.

i no about the difrent color typs i have 15 very happy gouramis some gold some moonlights and blues and a Dwarf Gourami and a few wild brown color ones and 2 opaline gouramis the tank is realy big cant rember the full size but if you stand it up on its side so its long ways up its 6 foot long and they have never had fights unless i take a male and female out too breed them cuz the males tend to be mean to the female when geting ready to mate but im told thats normal oh and a little over half are male i did not no that till the midel of last year and i have had them for a bit over 2 years and no fights have happened ............as for the color qestion i was asking its wired cuz its a gold but all most looks part platinum so i guess its a very light gold i was wonder what others might think cuz again it has an out line of what look like dots with no color just light white dots ...the top part of the fish is gold but the rest as it gos down gets realy light

i guess i could get a pic in a few days time a pale gourami ??????is that anuther color typ or is it just a light gold?

It's quite likely it's just a pale gold. The paler variations tend to be used to try and produce lavendars. For some reason they're more successful at producing them with the right partner then darker golds. :dunno:

realy is that true cool i want to try breeding to get a lavendar and this one i think is just a lighter gold then my other 3 shes too small to try breeding at the moment pluss the fry i all ready have are useing my other tank but thats some new intresting info it worked out good then cuz i only have male opaline ones

It is supposedly true, but I'm only going by what others have stated on the internet from, I assume, their own experiences. Until I have any success producing lavendars myself I'm not going to know for sure.
Yet again Blue detroyed BB's nest. She's done that two nights in a row now. Poor BB is actually beginning to look a little tired, bless him.

well i have been watching the fry i have and there looking brown or at least the 3 big one are the others still cant tell...........sighs that brown female i have is to easy when it come to leting the male have his way she was in there one day an night and it was the same last time as well but this time i had tryed other females for about 3 weeks and then put her in to see if there was a problem with the male ..........i spose she is the biggest female i have ..............
hope u have some luck with the lavendars breeding as well ........and BB sounds intresting and the blue one is female right ????if i rember right thats the one bb is in love with  or was that a difrent one ???

Yup, she's the one he adores. She's destroyed his nest 3 times at least now. And he has started getting a tad more pushy with her now. Still no successful spawn from them though. *sigh*
BB is a large male by any standards. He's looking a little scrawny at present with all the activity between himself and Blue. Eating like a pig. Not that I blame him at all! Blue is quite small compared to Queenie but feisty and very pretty. Obviously she's lacking in the brain department though.
As you no doubt know mine live together permanently so they can spawn when it suits them. The fact that Blue has grown up watching BB and Queenie means she really should have a clue but...well, bygones. Speaking of which, she just went over to him again. Here we go.... :X

sounds intresting but you no some times 2 animals dont like each well not anuth to mate is what i mean maby the blue girl dose not like bb ....................hehe of corse maby she thinks bb is trying to cheat on Queenie and the blue one dose not want to be the other girl  ................good luck with that pair .......i saw 2 of mine raceing round the fish tank a few mins okay they can realy go fast when they want too they were not fighting just were alittle suprised when i walked by the tank

BB will chase the girls on occassion. But only if they're daft enough to 'run'. If they stay still if gives them a once over then leaves them alone. Nothing nasty or aggressive at all. I suspect he's merely checking to see if they're ready to spawn or not. As for Blue, no, she's just not very bright. Again and again she goes back to BB. It's almost nightly now and yet never actually gets through the embrace without freaking out and dashing off. :X
I expect they'll eventually be successful or she'll reabsorb the eggs. It really doesn't matter since they're both still perfectly healthy and happy. Actually they're taking more notice of the bristlenose pair who are showing considerable interest in each other since Spike (the male BN) got his new hidey hole. :hey:
