I Got A New Fish!

when you get a new fish, do add Melafix as a profilactic? his fins are raggedy but no apparent illness? should I do something more then keep his water clean and give him nice food?

Melafix can't hurt. I'd put a bit of aquarium salt in as well. Those two with frequent water changes should help the fin regrowth and won't harm him at all.

This is currently what im doing with my SD and Delta boys, its working a treat, just added my 2 teaspoons of aquarium salt and adding melafix too

Fantasia's fins are growing soo well, he was all raggedy when i got him, and now his fins are filling out nicely

I always add the aquarium salt 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon per gallon to each water change, so far with this guy I haven't done anything else. I'll go ahead with Melafix too. I only got him Sunday, he was grey when I bought him and I thought he might blacken up, but he's actually a deep dark blue...Petco one of kind, the cup said Delta but I'm not sure they're right, the tail is kind of fringey like a Rosetail(or that could be damage) I haven't been able to get a good pic yet.. will add one ASAP

yeh, I might be getting a digital camera for Mothers Day, or my birthday the following week, by then he should look fantastic! my daughter named him Dexter after that avenging serial killer serial killer but I don't know that it suits him.. I liked House(the smart alleck doctor) becuase he doesn't seem that serious really, but my husband ddoesn't like House and banned me from using the name so i'm trying to think of a "blue" name

I haven't really called or referred to him much yet, but I am inclinded toward House for now, it'll be fun my family to give me a hard time when I call it out
