i got 2 females today and after coming home i found that they where both pregnint!!!
one looks like it will burst at any moment and the other i saw the graved spot and she was kind of fat so i assumed...
is there anyway of knowing when she should deliver
and how do i protect the fry from the filter if i put a mesh over it they will then get stuck to the mesh and be killed that way, do i turn the filter off all together?

Firstly what fish do you have?
A female livebearer will often look slightly square from the front when she is due to give birth. She may also start to spend a lot of time on her own and show little tolerance to other fish. On the other hand I have read peoples posts where the females don't act any differently at all.

Don't turn off your filter. Mesh would be a good idea. Alternatively you could place them all in a breeding net. Best of all you could rear them in a separate fry tank if you have a tank spare.

think they're generally pregnant for 4-6 weeks. Keep up with regular water changes to encourage them to give birth. Seemingly they can hold onto fry if they feel water conditions are poor. Also feed a varied diet; peas, frozen bloodworm etc.
Good luck, I too am awaiting guppy fry!
For future reference try and pick females they are early on in their pregnancy (or ideally not pregnant but this is unlikely!) It can cause unnecessary stress to transport a heavily pregnant fish. Having said that yours could still have a bit to go so I am not nagging just passing on advice given to me!!
