I Finally Got Supplies..

Well i went to wal mart today and got some thing for my future betta... or bettas..
well here is what i got.
10 gallon tank ( already had it )
filter - power filter
air pump
air line tubing
filter cartridges
bubble stone
salt
thermometer
betta food - pellets
freeze dried bloodworms
aquasafe - to treat water
net


i am going to get a heater later when i go to the pet store b/c i dont think that the heater there would work..
is there anything else i should get. like if my betta get a disease such as fin rot, ich, and so on... ?

Your betta does not need the air pump, air line tubing, or bubble stone. They are labyrinth fish that breathe air from the surface and the bubbles and current will stress a betta out. If the filter you bought has an adjustable flow rate then turn it down low. If not then you can cut a pop bottle to cut the current. Medicines to have on hand are Maracyn 1 and 2, bettafix, and Quick Cure. I'm sure there are others, but that's the ones I keep on hand all the time. Except I use melafix instead of bettafix and just cut the dosage. Good luck

i do know that they get air from above water. i just got it b/c i am thinking of breeding and if i got a sponge filter i would have it.

Ok, gotcha. Sorry, I didn't realize you were wanting to breed. Yeah, if you breed and use a sponge filter then those things will come in handy. They also come in handy if you hatch baby brine shrimp (to feed your fry), so it's good you got them

and i also wanted to ask what most people use to dechlorinate tap water. i use to use tablets, i think they were called tank buddies or bowl buddies something like that. and well i got some thing different the aqua safe and it is liquid and it seems that it could probably save me a lot more than those pills.

k thanks! i think i could get my betta... but my mom is like your not getting any more bettas! - i had a lot a long time ago.. so it might be a while but im getting all my stuff ready.

k. yeah i use to use those tank buddies and had to buy a lot of them... now there is more dechlorinator in aquasafe then those pills. it saves me money..
