I'm pretty sure Siras has ich. He has white fuzzy spots all over. He is also swimming very spastically (up and down, in circles, running into the glass, rubbing all over the plants etc) I read somewhere that he's trying to scrape off the parasites. I keep meaning to get a filter and a heater I just haven't yet... please don't yell at me!! I'm going to immediately today after work... do you think he'll survive? I'm really attached to the little guy now, he has an amazing personality. If I lose him I'm going to be so sad :-(

If the areas are fuzzy/ cotton wool looking, then it's Fungus. Get yourself down to an LFS and get some fungus medicine. If the spots are just solid ,looking, it's probably ich, in which case get the correct medicine for that instead.

A 25 watt heater is what you need, set it to 28 degrees C . A sponge filter is best for bettas and they are pretty cheap. You'll also need an airpump and airline to run it.

How often have you been doing water changes and how many gallons is his tank? You need to discover the cause of the disease as well as treat it, so it doesn't happen again.

Make the changes you need, that is the best you can do now. I hope he pulls through. Give us some more info about his condition so we can make sure you give him the right meds.

Honeythorn said ti right. Do as instructed and hope for the best, we're pulling for you. Good luck :D
Hope he gets better soon.

hope for the best and learn from mistakes. weve all made them! good luck with him.

White fuzzy spots are deceiving as they can be fungus or columnaris. Fungus is usually the fluffiest of all of them, and tends to appear evenly. Red in the centre and white on the edges is aeromonas, white in the centre and red edges is columnaris, and both are treatable with antibiotics. They usually show up in the region of the dorsal fin. A photo would really help us.

How is he today? I always have aquatic salt to hand, quite often sparkling clean water and aqua salt will do the trick or at least keep problem in check until you can get meds. :good:
