i want to add ferts to my tank (175 litres) because my plants are going brownish. the wide leaved plants seem ok. i have a laterite substrate below the gravel.

Q1 do i have to remove the carbon from the filter to feed the liquid fert?
it says nothing about this on the bottle.

Q2 i assume it has no effect on fish? (it is a tetra product)

Q3 should i turn the filter off for a few hours while puttin the ferts into the tank?

any advice please?

:/

I`d remove the carbon from the filter. it serves no real purpose,
I personaly only use it to remove meds after treating for disease.
The carbon will just absorb the neutrients your adding to the watter.

thanks for that - a suprise answer - can i ask what filter do you have and what is in it?

Ian is right :good:
The Carbon in your filter will remove trace elements you add to your water. I have a RENA XP3 filter and I dont use a Carbon filter sachet in any of the baskets. Use a fine polishing wool instead for that section.
