ok so when I setup my first main tank I used industrial quartz which is little larger than pea gravel.

The 2 subsequent tanks have been sand bottom.
125 Wal-Mart White playsand
54G standard playsand and black sand mix
37G all-purpose sand

After stocking those tanks and see how much the cories, loaches and cat's just seem to LOVE LOVE LOVE the sand I ordered up 40lbs of tahitain moon sand for the 46 Bow from which is my main tank and is what I'd like to be my main show tank.

I can't wait till next week when I'll have time to do it. Odds are wednesday next week is when I'll undertake the project.

I'm also going to try to order up some CO2 diffusers and go get some plants and root tabs.

This is going to be a great looking tank.

Red and slate grey rocks with tahitian moon sand with black background housing tiger barbs, baby clown loaches and some botia angelicus. Should look fantastic just judging on what the 54G tank looks like with marbled sand.

I know it doesn't matter here I just am excited at the thought of having 4 really nice looking adult professional appearing tanks......certainly a LONG way from my first two tanks 10 years ago (5g with neon pink gravel and 20G with deep blue gravel)
