if they jump then im screwed casue there isnt a carcas anyhwere around my floor, i check inside the filters... no luck... i looked for unnatural mounds in the gravel.. then i thought "this gravel cant be dug up" I CANT FIND HIM!!! im kinda worried!! :( please help me out here!

my loach sometimes hides behind the filter and dont say never i found my loach under gravel once

i have to but the gravel i have can only be dug up by me!! its heavy and big!! ... he isnt behind the filters or in them ... i looked everywhere!!

Kuhli loaches are born jumpers. They're known for their jumping abilities as well as their ability to just disapear through the smallest hole. If your tank doesn't have a lid ... I doubt he's still in there

Kuhlis though, are real diggers as well. No matter how heavy you think the gravel is, try looking through it anyway. With the snake like body, they often don't even have to lift up the gravel to be able to wriggle their way under and through it.

well i found him 5ft away from my tank jeez man i usually leave the lid open during day time cause i can watch them... he at like 7 this morning (i heard a loud splash i figured it was my mollies chasing each other again or my pleco coming up for air) so i found him still alive all wriggly and inside a bottle of water... how he got there i do not know... dont ask

Thats crazy! Tell your Kuhli he's very bad and not to scare you like that again lol. I'll watch out for that when i get mine....

Amazing

I didnt see but one of mine for the longest time and I was sure the others handnt jumped. I was afraid they had died and the remains had just been scattered but now that its raining... THEY ARE ALL OUT and acting bizarro!!!

silly kulhis

You should definatly secure the tank a proper lid with no posible exits if you already havn't, the khuli loachs aern't just going to stop jumping out once they make a habit of it, so...

am I the only one that this sounds slightly suspicious to? Can a kuhli loach really jump five feet? And what are the chances of an open bottle of water sitting in the exact spot he jumped to? Very fishy I say. If it really is possible someone correct me. Just sounds a bit far fetched.

Yeah it does sound pretty far fetched to me too, but anyways, no point in leaving the tank without a lid as most fish have the ability to jump.

I agree secure the lid...with a lock.
And don't forget a barcode password system if you've got some real intelligent khulis too, might be worth micro chipping the khulis too in case they go walk about so you can track them down

Ahh...
Ok, but to serious mode, im realy an adult you know

I read somewhere, i beleive it was a PFK mag, that the owner of an aquarium had bought countless kuhlis and had no idea where they kept disapearing to. Only until months later when she removed her UGF and found countless kuhlis still alive who had disapeared down beneath the gravel! :D

Sorry to hear about your one. I had a similar experience... :(
