Everytime I go in a petshop and see pregnant platies, I want to buy them! Maybe because I know that when she gives birth in there, her fry (is there a plural for this word???) will just be eaten by the other fishes.... Poor babies...

But the stores here in our place do not sell individual livebearers. Its 4 platies for a certain amount. So I always end up not buying any coz I know that they breed easily and I wont have space for them in my tank. :-(

hi,
platy were my first fish,
and one of my favorite, i go to fish stores and head straight to the platy tanks  .
its the same where i live 4 or 5 platy for £4. mind you its hard to find a platy thats not already pregnant lol.
i have lots of females my plan was an all female tank but the last batch i got were not quite developed and i got 2 boys that are a right pain, . my daughter has platy in her bedrrom lol.

Their expensive here. Their more than $1.25 each.

is'nt that about 60 pence - thats really cheap - or were you being sarcastic ???

any way i have been looking for red platys for ages and can only find orange

Red Platies don't look that red to me. They're slighly richer in color, but look more like a rich orange than red to me.
