I Broke Part On Filter, Help

hi, i was cleaning my filter tube thing, and it broke off. its a hob filter, and the part that dips into the water broke. the filter still works, but now there is no protection at the end of the tube (fish could get stuck?) i dont know if this effects anything. let me know what to do, thanks!

Get yourself a rectangular piece of sponge and wedge it on the end.

Careful with the sponge!!! Don't get the wrong type. It needs to be open cell type sponge, or you are just adding more resistance to the filter.

Instead, I would suggest running to the store (Pick your favorite) and buying the cheapest pair of panyhose you can find. Or you can go to a shoe store and grab a couple of those test nylons the women use. Take a piece of that, put it over the end, rubber band it in place...and you are good to go.
