I bought my first female betta!! Yeah for me!! She is a total cutie and is swimming around in her bowl checking the place out-Very active. I was kind of worried about her when I bought her. She was kind of lethargic in her cup...But once I got her in some warmer water and she calmed down a little bit, she's doing great!!

I'm contemplating trying to breed bettas, (I have a beatiful male that I think she would make fabulous babies with!!) but I'm not sure if I will or not. I'm to afraid I would do something wrong. Has anyone here had any positive experiences??

Also, would I be able to put my new female in a comunity tank or would that be a bad move on my part?

I think she would do great in a community tank. Maybe you should even think about getting a few more fems so she won't be lonely. I have 4 fems in my community tank with no problems at all.

As far as breeding goes, I haven't taken the plunge into that yet. Hopefully someone will come along that has.

Good Luck
Tiff

Genetics are not that simple with bettas. But if you would be happy just to have many, then go for it!

So, in other words, just because you have to fabulous looking parents doesn't mean you will have fabulous looking babies??? :/
Correct. Especially if you don't know the lineage. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't go for it. Nature might pull a surprise on you and maybe grant you a jewel or two.
