5 Gallon Tank

Anyways I was just wondering how to I decorate it? I've never had a five gallon tank before seeing as though I kept my betta in a 0.7 gallon tank. I want to be able to really make the tank look beautiful. What kind of fake plants should I use?

Sorry - that would have been a good joke, but you did not fool me. Think you know better than to post pictures of these kind of tanks on THIS forum :D

Well, most people say that you should provide a cave of some sort. Either a coconut cave or a hollow tree trunk or (one of my friends has that) a gaping Mayan head, etc. You can use any kind of plant you want, though I'd suggest you get something tall enough to reach the surface so that it makes it easier for making bubblenests.

I would decide on the cave item first and then see which type of plant would go best with it for a complete "look". Just make sure it is a silk plant, not plastic.

I love that red tank does it have a light? If so I would go live if not, there are some real nice silk ones about. YOu could pick a theme, pirate ship or ancient ruins and go from there? I'm not good at theming tanks, kinda go with what is available and fancy at the time! ;) Does it have the red gravel with it as that tank looks pretty sweet with the contuniation of red in the gravel and rocks.

I'd suggest a natural looking tank nothing can beat a good natural feel try it with a sand bottom and and elodia or two.

Elodia and cabomba are IMO the easiest plants to grow as all you need to do is put them in the substrate with a root tab if you can get them then leave your lights on for at least 6hrs a day.

Your betta will love that tank, it's a great size.

I personally have gone for a natural look with my betta tank, i have elodea in the corner, then a bridge, a stone, java fern, then a jungle of plants at the top, and i have a cocunut cave a natural ferns on the way.

At this point i hadnt added the jungle of floating plants thsi was just near the end of my setup last night.

If I provide the betta with a cave, he won't get stuck will he?

just make sure the opening is big enough for him...and they love to swim thu impossibly small openings, so just make sure he can fit.
glad you got a bigger tank. they are more fun to decorate and less work for you in the long run (not having so many waterchanges to do).
show us pics when it's all set up.

It's a good idea to consider the colour of the betta when decorating a tank properly, you do not want red gravel with a red betta
