Hi Everyone,
I am new here, from Southern Maine! I have 4 cats, 11 rats, 6 goldfish and 4 tropical fish. I work at a no kill animal shelter. I know nothing about fish, never was interested in them, but when my neighbor moved last month I took her fish so she would not flush them. The 6 goldfish seem to be doing fine and I am enjoying them, but the 4 tropical fish I am not sure about, two died since I took them and I am afraid the others will die so I made a post her offering them for free to somebody who can give them the care they deserve. The temperature in the tank always goes up and down during the day, I can't keep it where its suppose to be and I am constantly worring about the fish and whether they will live. I get up in the middle of the night to check the temperature of the tank; its totally stressing me out.
Thanks for reading!

Hi again i wont be able to get the tank unfortunately a 12 hour drive isnt reasonable....

But i can try to help.

What is your tank temperature?
Could you take pictures of the fish for ID? How big are the fish?
What filter is being used?

I just took pics of the fish, but now I can't find my usb cord to get the pics off the camera.
The temperature is 70 now, she said as long as the temp is in the green area of the thermometer all will be ok. Its a power filter, don't know much else about it. One fish she called a shark, there were two sharks, but one died last week. Another fish is about an inch long, orange with black on the tips of the fins and tail. I am pretty sure there is a neon tetra there and the last fish is about an inch and a half long, kind of oval shape and gold in color. I've been on dozens of fish sites trying to find out who these guys are and only the neon tetra I was able to find. I will post this and go look for my cord to get the pics off my camera.

None of the pics came out. :( I did manage to get one halfway decent pic of the gold color fish, no idea what he's called. I will take more pics in the morning!
