I got a lot of these plants about a week ago. I have a bunch of the normal kind and a little of the big leaf kind. When i bought them they had roots coming out from under the leaves. I thought they would just get absorbed back into the plant, but they are still growing most are trying to reach the bottom and others are grabbing onto the surounding plants. How should i get them to go away, would breaking off the roots work or would they grow back?

These aeriel roots are normal on that plant Makaila, you can just pull them off with no ill effect, you get these on a lot of aquatic plants and they can usually be removed no problem if they become unsightly, btw they might grow back but Hygro being such a fast grower you may be trimming it at that stage anyway or just keep removeing them.

Just what zig said.

Unless they're getting out of control, just leave them be. When the plants grow all the way to the surface, pull them up, cut them below a set of roots higher up the stem, and replant the top half. Those roots will now be under the substrate and ready to help it continue growth.

Lather, rinse, repeat... a lot. Polysperma grows fast. :)

   Ain't that the truth! Nearly impossible to kill too. Fun plant, but careful, in some parts of the US, it is a noxious weed and not allowed.
