As many of u know i work at the aquarium in New Orleans as a volunteer...well,this year we have gotten oppurtunities to work husbandry positions...I have made california sea otter food and helped train with them...fed and made Rockhopper and African Blackfooted penguins food...and now 2 days ago i fed an electric eel by hand and some black tip reef sharks on tongs...I was the first volunteer in that husbandry position to have owned an aquarium so she gave me alot of dirty work...I now have no trouble vaccuming my 75 gallon because i vaccumed 1300 gallons...i also did a lot of windexing...i even painted the work space...When i was fixing the food i asked how we fed the eel because for sharks and stuff we use metal tongs and i knew we could not with an electric eel.she quietly told me...oh u hand feed em...wow...scared the living #### outta me.then she told me we used gloves...wow.thanx...the eel was so much fun and sooooo well behaved...my fingers got sucked on a bit but other than that it was great...we even did a little research on coral from another exhibit that wasnt doin well...she was very impressed with all that i knew and i told her i got a lot of great information from a special forum i was on...hmmmmmm.i wonder which forum that could be...OH YEAH!TFF!
