HELP!!!!!!!!! I'm having kittens here. I have 5 female guppies all in a tank of thier own, they are all heavily pregnant. Today I saw 3 fry in the tank and I have been watching for ages. I am petrified that they will be eaten and wont be thier in the morning. I have plants and places for them to hide but they seem to land on a leaf or they swim around. I have seen 2 of the females go for them. Is there anything else I can do to protect them. Please anyone help with info.

will if you don't have anywhere to put them like a breeder net, or small fry tank, apart from hope there not much you can do right now. :-(

But have hope, I shore these 3 will be the fist of many fry, and if these guys don't manage to out wit there mothers then there be more after that will, suvive when you are more prepeard to have them.

I had some black-chinned Livebearers born and the mom did'nt even notic they where there.

good luck hope I could be more positive.

Congratulations on your fry!

Don't worry too much, if you have plants in there for hiding then I'm almost sure some fry will survive. When I first started up my 210 litre tank it only had fake plants in it and 9 guppies but amazingly 3 fry survived after being born in the first week. since then I've added more plants and bogwood and my females have given birth regularly every 3-4 weeks and now the fish hardly try to eat them as they are so used to have young fry in the tank. I regularly get at least 10 fry from each batch survive. One of my girls gave birth yesterday and this morning the little darlings are out in the open feeding with all the other fish!

Thanks Joby, I am so excited with all this. I do have a large tank with loads of tropical in, but the small one I kept for the female guppies. I'm keeping everything crossed. Thank you

Thanks Ferrikins, I'm so excited, keep your fingers crossed for me.

You can buy plastic breeder tanks for fry that hang inside the tank, also they have an airstone and you just add a pump and it keep clean tank water running into the little plastic tank, their quite cute and they are not expensive.

Oh wow :hyper: I'm so excited for you. I've got 4 pregnant guppies, 2 are huuuuge!!
Hope to join you soon as a guppy granny.

Lol, wait till you have loads of fry and you will be begging the females not to have any more.

I don't like using traps, although proberly the only way alot of people that can't have more than one tank can ever breed, I think that if you have more than one fry. It can stunt there growth and there life span.

It's always better to get a small 6G and use that for fry.

Everything crossed for ya Lezlee, it nice to get and Thanks :D

I agree actually them breeders are just a quick solution, till
you can get a 10gal set up if you intend on breeding the guppys.

THEN THERE WERE ELEVEN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OH MY GOD THIS IS WORSE THAN GIVING BIRTH YOURSELF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!WELL NEARLY
