Hi Folks
Normally when I set-up a breeding tank, the male and female wrap and are done the same/next day, and then the male is in there for up to 4 days with eggs and fry. I have never fed the male (or female) while in the breeding tank as I dont want to stimulate appetite and have him munch the eggs. I have a particular steel blue DR CT pair I want to breed, but it takes them 3-4 days before they finally wrap and spawn. They havent been fed during this time, so the problem is when the male is faced with minding eggs and fry for another 4 days without food he is wrecked. I reckon this is the reason he has eaten the eggs/fry the last 4 times. So, do you think in future I should feed the male and female in the breeding tank and stop as soon as they start to wrap? Should I never feed Bettas in the spawn tank pre-spawn and count the male egg-eater as unbreedable?
Any advice would be great
Thanks
Lee
