I'm wondering if people can give me a yes/no on some of these items.

Orange/lemon/grapefruit (i've seen these at my LFS)
Other fruit - Grapes, apples, banana
Tomatoes, squash, beans (green)

I saw someone on here puts everything in... bacon, beef, chicken, cereal... all her leftovers. I want them to eat more than just flake, but don't want to kill them!

Thanks

What kind of fish? Green vegetables of almost any type are safe, and there is frozen food like bloodworms or brineshrimp as well. I would not suggest any kind of mammal or avian meat however as it's too complex for most fish to eat more than once or twice a month. Most processed food is also a bad idea as the add all kinds of stuff a fish probably can't handle.

I believe fruits are harmful to fishes as it contains citric acid which is bad for them...

I'm not sure on the fruits though I guess the acid could unbalance the water enough to cause pH swings and it might interfere with the fishes digestive tract too.

Most any fruit would be eaten by most any fish and this would prevent water quality issues. Also, removal of uneaten food of any kind after a while would also prevent water quality issues.

I have done steamed broccoli. What my toddler wouldn't eat, I pinched off the tiny florets just a teeeeeeeny bit at a time and put it in the tank. They ate it like there was no tomorrow

every now and then i feed my plakats raw salmon, giving them some real meat every now and then is good for them and they get a workout tearing into the meat. sometimes we will throw in a prawn head but be careful with prawn as it will pollute your water if not taken out promptly ;)
