i was in nottingham at the weekend in the victoria center i ahve seen this before but this time is was bad

about half way up the shopping center thers a assive fish tank about 12ft buy 3.5 ft it is huge
filled with huge fish fully grown plecs all sorts of fish like that but ther was loads of them all sorts of massive fish with barly any room to therself children hitting the glass pple taking photos all the time loads of noise
the only places they had to hide was 1 metal tube about 1.5 ft long and ild say about 1ft wide with a slight bend in it and a small peice of bog wood
non of the fish looked happy and alot of them had terriable colours in them and other had next to no colour
ther was a kissing gourmie in ther who looked in very bad health no colour in it and it just kept swimming into the side of the glass

just thought i would share this with you as it has been winding me up soo much knowing that so many fish must die in there each week as there was a whole set of diffrent fish in ther fro when i last went about a month ago :(

Doesn't that just suck :(
Some people will just never see fish as being important enough to care about.
Like my sis-in-law..... Love her to death, but it really peeves me off when she tells me "So what" if my fish die.

Sorry sis.. they're not JUST FISH to me. They're my pets and I love them all!

Its such a shame to ruin such a large tank by overstocking it. Perhaps you should tell whoever runs the thing that its overstocked and the fish would look better, healthier and happier if there was less of them?

I live in Notts and totally agree with you, havnt seen that tank for a while until the other day and although there are some beautiful fish in there unless its got a filter the size of a car it is way overstocked.

will try and find out who runs the centre and who is in charge of the tank as my dad has several friends in the business side of the our other shopping centre, Broad Marsh

they need to take advise from 1 of the perfume stores they have ther they have nice tank on display loads of hiding places and nicely stocked fish in that 1 look alot happier

Yeah i live in nottingham, havent been to see that tank in a while but i know what you mean about the hiding places though, just one pipe and theres a load of plecs in there. Sad to hear about the giant gourami cuz its a really nice fish, wasnt too bad last time i looked but im guessing fish had died so there werent too many fish in there but they must have refilled it without thinking of why they are dieing or something.

Then it needs more hides, not necassarily plants... I don't use plants either, doesn't make it wrong.

It depends on the type of fish you have. Some fish will tear up or eat plants, so it doesn't make sense trying to grow plants in a tank with such fish, but for other fish the best type of decor you can put with them is plants (gourami's in general are a fish which this is particularly true for- they need hiding places, but tend to only use dense planting and not caves and things).
