I now own my very first Golden Apple snail! Much to mother's dismay ( she detests snails of all sorts, and plecs, anything that can crawl up glass or has a suckermouth really ) .

I named him Hubert Cumberdale after the finger puppet in Salad Fingers ^_^

I have to admit to 'salting' a few slugs here and there! My garden is infested with them!!

Love the snail was thinking about getting some myself.....

Ah cute little snail, Ive got 8 apple snails, 2 large and 6 small ones, they are great little things and my god they can move fast :D

YES! Someone else who knows of the Salad Fingers! Ahhh it is seriously really weird and wrong, but so so great. " Hubert Cumberdale you taste like soot and poo! "

am i right in saying, you can have one apple snail and it wont breed? i have 2 tanks, so can i put one in each? will it destroy any plants?

You can possibly get a female that has mated before(like I did) and she'll lay eggs. They're easy to get rid of, however.

Assuming you get a P. bridgesii it will leave plants alone. If you get a P. canaliculata it will eat plants. P. bridgesii is most often sold, though.

applesnail.net has some methods to determine the species.
