Hello. Im new to the forum. Ive been in the tropical fish hobby for 25 years. I started as a kid. Have had a few setups since getting married 10 years ago but now I have kids and they are ready and so am I for an all out setup. I have just transfered my 55 gallon tak from my mancave to our finished basement. Currently have a stripped raphael and a mottled cat. Letting the aquarium "semicycle" I removed aprox 90% of water but leff in place gravel and filter media for transfer. Im hoping I have enough good bacteria in place to get all my levels correct shortly. My kids are flipping out wanting to get fish. I remember that same feeling when I was there age.

Welcome Yeved.

If you only removed water, the tank is still completely cycled.  The bacteria only live on surfaces in the tank, like the filter media, gravel, decor, etc.  If those parts are still in place, then there is no 'cycle' needing to complete, its all in place already.

Fantastic. Thats what im hoping. Will test tomorrow when my test kit arrives.
