Hi!
My name is Stephanie. I am an avid animal/nature lover. I have worked with animals since a young age and am currently a vet tech/assistant. I have always been interested in aquaculture. As a kid, I wanted nothing more than be a marine biologist working out on the Chesapeake Bay. I took several courses wherein my instructor kindly urged me to pursue a more profitable profession.Still not sure why I listened to her though. I am that person who goes to the beach and is more interested in the flora and fauna rather than sunbathing or swimming. From there I followed my second love- four legged creatures! Over the years I have kept numerous types of fish amongst a myriad of other creatures. Some of my favorites include a brackish bay tank maintained for school, land hermit crabs<3 , and of course, dogs and horses!
As a military spouse, I have become somewhat limited as to what type of creatures I keep. We do a lot of moving and certain supplies are not always available. ( moving with fish can be tricky and transporting an empty 100g tank in a Toyota Corolla was nerve wracking!)I decided not to give up my hobby altogether but rather to downsize.
Currently, I have 2 crazy dogs, a long hair chihuahua, and a dogue de bordeaux. In addition to the furries, I have two beautiful bettas( M& F ) and a dinky 10g tank. The 10g is home to a pair of little honey dwarf gouramis( love love love them!!!) and ghost shrimp. Although, I would really like to learn more about planted tanks, any updates to water quality testing/charting( used API tests which I had mixed feelings about) as well as possibly getting ADF's.
I look forward to getting to know you all and learning!!
