hello! im new to this site and i was wondering how you would clean rocks for a mbuna tank?
i recently today went outside and got a whole bunch of rocks for my 29 gallon fish tank that
currently has two cichlids one lab and one bumblebee cichlid.and i was just wondering how
you would come about cleaning the rocks that i gathered from outside.

so any help with this would help me out a lot! and i have another post going on in the tropical discussion part about
my 10 gallon and if you any have suggestions there it would be much appreciated.

First off do you know what kinds of rocks they are?
I would rinse them off, put a couple of boiling kettle full's over them while scrubbing with a rough stiff brush, than rinse off any residue.
They may give off calcium in which case you can test to see if they do with vinegar, however just googling it vinegar is a very inaccurate way of doing it and actually pH down, a product (I actually have some of this from years ago) works much better.
Having done research of mbuna before they need at least 55 gallons for a proper mbuna tank...

i believe that they are large cobble river rocks and some limestone rocks that i just picked up from outside.

ya doing the research on that i did learn that they do need at least a 55 gallon tank for a proper mbuna tank but this
is just a single species lab tank in a 29 gallon.

and thank you for the proper advice, i didnt want to just clean them with chemicals bc i know that is very harmful for
your fish as well as the ph and what not.so again thank you very much :)
