too much for a 55 gallon imo. If I were you I'd go with either:

3 angels
2 kribs
syno cat or rainbow shark
rubberlip pleco

or

2 firemouths
severum or parrot
syno cat or rainbow shark
rubberlip pleco



in either setup you could probably add some type of dithers to fill the top area of the tank.

Two things came to my mind...

Watch the angels. If they pair up, they could decide that they don't want that 3rd angel in there with them anymore. It's not a sure thing to happen, just something to watch out for.

I would not a parrot in there... Angels, sevs and firemouths are pretty shy *for cichlids* and if you get a parrot that decides to exhibit its red devil side then it could be too aggressive for the angels, sev and firemouth.

I would nix the parrot, at least.

well, I already have the syno and the shark. All the top 6 listings. I can try to have my brother take them. His tank has 2 gouramis, 1 rainbow shark, 1 kind of goby, and a school of black skirt tetras. but he doesnt want to risk his gouramis, that happen to be mine, because of when my fish had ich. Which was a month ago, and they have been fine sence then.

I do know the tetras are nippy to angels though. But there are 6, wouldnt that turn down the bitting?

I also have to keep the shark, and the syno in my tank though.

It depends on just how nippy the tetras are. I was nice and "rescued" some serpae tetras from a friend without realizing just how nippy they are. There were 6 of them but they were still too nippy so I got 4 more.

I ended up having to return my angel b/c he was just getting nipped WAY too badly, even with TEN serpaes in there

I think the fish the people are listing as OK or not are more just about the cichlids, and assuming the other fish have to stay.
