The info on the back of the box of tetracycline says to treat every other day for 5 days but articles I found on the net say that the meds don't work after 24 hours and that you need to treat every day w/ fresh solution.

what's correct?

Never used tetracycline myself, more of a melafix person, but if its anything like melafix or the vast majority of other meds it should still be active up to 5days of being in the tank- what does the med claim it can cure/do and what are you treating your fish/tank for?

Well, since you should be doing water changes every other day, I'd go with what it says on the box.
