males have an extended black ray at the front of their dorsal (top) fin and at the back of the dorsal fish it is extended/pointier/longer
females have a purple/pink stomach and a rounded dorsal fin
im guessing by 12..you mean 2.
no, take a female back and trade it in for a male. Rams to best in pairs. The third female will get chased and die eventually
Another thing to check when sexing M ramerizi (at least it works with the fish I have!!):
Along with the colouration and fins, the black patch on the side of the females will show some spangling/iridescence, this is not visible (the spangling) on the males black patch.
