i recently got 3 platy's, a male and two females. one of the females is very young but looks fat, could she be pregnant?

if shes a female and has been kept with males in the last 6 months there's a high chance shes prego so id say she is

in a word - yes!

Watch her and her belly will start to flatten at the bottom so she takes on an almost square shape. At which point her bum hole (no nicer way to put it) will start to look swollen ... at that point she's close to having her babies. If you want to save them you can either trap her in a breeding trap/net or heavily plant your tank. The fry are tiny and many get eaten by the parents and other adult fish. If you decide to trap her put some broken off plant leaves in the trap with her to help her de-stress and let her go once she's given birth. Be aware that the babies (fry) are small enough to slip through the slots in the breeding trap so putting them into a breeding net is better (I put my net bag around the trap so any that slip through don't get into the tank and mum still can't eat them)

Good luck, rearing fry is very rewarding

As I said in your other thread can you post a pic, they usually are preganat when their belly get's large and their gravid spot is dark in coor then most likely she will be preganat

gravid spots often arn't visable in platies ... or difficult to spot anyway. It's really obvious in my guppies but I've stuggled everytime to see a gravid spot in my platy

The gravid spot isn't the best indicator of pregnancy as non-gtavid females can also exhibit it. But as others have said, male + female + water = babies as far as livebearers are concerned.

If the fish continous to be fat in about 1-2 months well you might be seeing fry. Don't worry my lyretail molly had babies and now I have 23 mollys.
