How To Take Apart Fluval Filter?

I have a Fluval 2 Filter than I need to clean inside as the flow has got really slow. I've taken the black top off but inside there is a red bit that says Push on it. No matter how hard I push it's not going any where! Do I need to push in a certain direction? How do I get it off??

you should just take the bottom part off the filter and the sponges just pull out in a plastic holder theat opens in to 2 half's for easy cleaning.

Yes I know that, those are cleaned weekly. I need to get inside the actual mechanics of the filter to clean inside as there's so much crap built up in there.

I did wander it should be quite simple, but i dont have one to hand, I'll look tomorrow if no one has answered.

I used to have a small fluval that was really, really hard to get apart. I had to force it..and then the gunk would spray in my face
