Yesterday I purhased 5 neons and notice that my fluval 3+ had sucked in a neon. How can I stop this happening again.

Would a hair-net do the trick do you think. Covering the intake slots.

Hi....if the neons are new...I'd be more concerned that the neon died and then was collected by the filter. Been there done that. If you lose any more neons, it's probably NOT the filter UNLESS it's extremely powerful. Those guys are pretty quick and are not weaklings. The fact that this occurred right after purchase makes one think. Good luck. SH

Try a stocking (clean obviously :hey: ) stretched over the filter nozzle- it has a good fine mesh to stop fish being sucked in

You can also purchase cotton batting from a fabric store and attach that to the filter intake. I'm thinking you perhapes just got a ill neon though.

Fluval filters have flow adjusters on them. If you filter is too strong for the size of your tank you may want to slow the water intake down.

you might want to consider purchasing the original filter intake cover as a nylon sock or mesh wont allow larger debris and waste to be filtered
