How To Spot Ich On An Ancistrus?

Hi all, i think i might be paranoid because i just got him, but im wondering how on earth your supposed to spot ich on an ancistrus with non symmetrical patterns!
Its a common ancistrus, his head is spotted but the body is a mess of dots...
I have no idea what ich looks like, never had it, is it flat or do the dots come out of the skin a little?
Any one got ich on an ancistrus before?

look at the fins. The white spots are easier to see on them. They should be about 1mm diameter and slightly raised above the body or fins.
