How To Size And Stick Juwel 3d Background

Hi, just bought a trigon190 and wanted to stick the rock 600 background but wasnt sure how....somehow it kinda blocks the water intake into the filter due to its thickness...also do i need to leave a gap on the background on either side of the filter...im eager to set up my fish tank and wud be grateful for any tips!!
