I was hoping that my dad who lives in canada could ship me some plants down here which is about 30mins away from miami. it would take about1-2 weeks to arrive so i was wondering if it was possible. he would just put them in a bag with water, in some bubblerap and send them off. will he need special conditioner to put into the water?

thanks

Connor

I would opt for some overnight or 2 day shipping. That long would kill the plant because it's starved of light, it will use up the avaible Co2 and nutrients in the shipping water and it will probably experience cold temps.

yes, one or two weeks is way too long for the plants to be in the dark. Overnight shipping is what you would have to look at to get your plants to arrive in good condition.

I shipped from Toronto to BC just fine... but I did it in 3 days.

The only problem you run into will be that you can't tell the post office what you are shipping. You can't send plants over the border without special paperwork. I think at one time when I was looking to send someone from here a tiger lotus, and I talked to my post office and the paperwork was 50 bucks and would take 3 weeks to verify that my plant was ok to send. If you inquire at customs you should be able to find out what the process is. They don't let you send because a very common plant here could be consided a pest or weed where you live.
