How To Sex Jack Dempsey?

I have two jack dempsey and I dont know how to sex them

The males will have a red tipped anal fin and also will have two spots one near the gills and one in the middle of their sides.

its really fairly simple to sex a JD.

the female JD will have a majority of the blue markings on her face and gill covers.

the flash makes the blue look copper, but that is a female JD

I think I have a female and a male. Do you think they will pair off?

its a possibility, just watch them and have a divider handy. when the time comes there will be some normal courtship behaviors, jaw locking etc. some nipped fins stuff like that can be expected. but if it looks like one is just getting the snot kicked out of it divide them right away. it isn't going to work. now if what the female decides to lay her eggs on is close enough to the divider it might spur the male to do his thing and it isn't totally unheard of fish breeding through a divider.

are female JDs less aggressive than males to any significant degree? and at what size do they begin displaying the sexing characteristics?
