How to sex Angel fish

I have heard it is something to do with the shape of their cranial profile, but am unsure as to exactly what.

Any advice appreciated.

The only way to sex angel fish is by looking at the shape of their genital papillae when they're in breeding condition. The males will be pointed and the females will be rounded.

i was a bit quick off the mark.

not to butt in on the post but how the hell do you know when their in breeding condition??? i've only got one angel in my tank, will this still happen.

its also been noted that male angel fish as they mature have a pronounced bump at the head (cranium).

the females tube is short and rounded almost like a straw, and the male is longer,thinner and pointed.

Ditto on what you all said and yes, older males may develop, in the typical cichlid fashion, the large nuchal hump on the forehead that is often seen in fish like midas and red devils.

Well my sisters angels are n breeding condition right now so over the next week ill watch them closely for contrasts.
