Doesn't anubias have only one rhizome? I just split them down the middle, both with leaves and roots.
I bought this Anubias about 2 months back, it was being tied and grew on a small piece of drift wood readily. I could see 2 Anubias on that piece of wood. Last 3 weeks, most of the leaves are covered by algae and died off. Then the new leaves are growing out and now I can see a few new rhizomes too... That's why I am thinking of separate them.
No, it is possible for an anubia to have daughter rhizomes that branch out from the main one as Wei0204 has demonstrated. You can either A. Divide the parent by cutting, or B. separate the daughter rhizomes by cutting. But, again the rhizome needs to be large enough as I said in my previous post and you should have well-developed roots. Leaves are not such a big deal, but roots are needed. I have a good-sized petite nana that has been divided 7 times already. I have a Barterii that has been divided 10 times. Stay tuned, it looks like rhizome plants will be next in my TFF Newsletter series on plant propagation and maintenance. Stemplants are first, but I'll definitely do rhizomes next.
