O.K. at my Local Pet Store they sell their plants in theese little black "pots", so to speak. Should I take them out of the pots and plant them under the gravel or burry the pot under the gravel?

Either, you can leave the plants in the pots and push the pot into the gravel or just put a rock in front of the pot. Alternatively you can take the plant out of the pot and plant it into the gravel.

Which is better?

They both have advantages. I like to put the plants into bigger pots with some laterite (red clay) and fertiliser if I am keeping them in fry tanks. This means the plants have a bit of gravel to grow in but the fry tank doesn't need any gravel and is easier to clean.
If I am putting plants into a display tank then I plant them straight into the gravel in the tank.
As to which is better, I suppose being planted in the gravel of a tank would be a bit better for most people. However, if you plan on renovating the tank then maybe leave them in a pot until after you have redecorated.
