I really would like two silver with black stripes angel fish. I have one, I did buy 2 but one died within 24 hours. So I bought 3 more, all were dead within 3 days. but the remaining one is doing fine. All 4 dead ones seemed thin when I bought them. (two different shops) Any tips on spotting a nice healthy angel? all the other fish I have bought have all survived without any problems. The tank I am putting the angels in is 4ft x 14" x 18" high and running an undergravel filter with live plants (mainly vallis)
Thanks

....Are they being introduced gradually? - what are the results of your water tests (PH, Ammonia, Nitrite, KH.....)

>>Healthy Angels will be eager to feed (ask the shopkeeper to put some food in, then watch closely) - they should have nicely developed Fins and a bit of a 'belly', rather than looking thin. - Make sure their Gills are not rapidly moving also.

....P.s; Undergravel Filters are often a lot of trouble - beware! - or change to a good External / Internal .....even put an Internal Filter in addition for the meantime and do plenty of water changes, syphoning the muck from the Corners....
(Hope you can put Results of Test on soon. and any changes can be attempted...

Water stats were fine when I added the last 3 angels, had a nitrite spike with the deaths as expected but fine again now. I floated the bag in my tank for 45 mins gradually adding water from my tank a bit at a time and caught them and released them into the tank without letting any of the water from the bag into the tank. (I was told this was the best way to introduce them)

When I am ready for some more I will ask the shop to feed them if possible. I am trying to locate a home breeding in the birmingham area.
