So, I'm boiling some eggshells up now and I'm wondering about a few things... How long should I boil? Do I take them out of the tank and if so when?
Thanks in advance!

You’re feeding egg shells to snails? Any particular reason why?
New to me, as are many fishy things.

I have a cute little turquoise electric egg maker. It hard boils eggs in maybe 10 minutes

“just use the egg shell. But the inside and out must be cleaned (boiled) to kill off any bacteria that might live on it. But the calcium content isn't that high. Coral or a cuttle bone have a much higher content of calcium, they are much denser and larger. It would take a lot of egg shell to equal the same amount of the other.”

Found this for you, Rocky! lots of online info.

Thanks! See, I dont want to add cuttlebone or coral, because I dont want the water to be really hard... But thank you! And I have rinsed and boiled these.

If you put the egg shells in hot water and bring it to the boil, then let it boil for a couple of minutes, it will kill anything on it.

After the shell has cooled down, drop it in the tank. You can replace it whenever you like. It's mainly calcium and shouldn't rot or do anything bad to the water.

You simply approach said snail and say "hey snail, fancy an egg shell?".....I guess that's how you offer a snail an egg shell....or am I being too literal? 🤭

So I just put it in as a chunk? I heard you should crush it up in a bag... I'm just wondering is all

You can crush it up and put it in a bag if you like but I would just drop pieces (or the entire shell) in the tank and let the snails eat it.

Ok, I put in 1/4 of the shell. Thanks!

Way too much trouble, IMO...cuttlebone is cheap and readily available...break into pieces, and use a small chunk at a time

And depending on the KH of your tap water, your snails may not even need supplements, anyway
