Hey all,

Sorry for this completely stupid question, everyone else seems to know how to measure the ammonia, I must be missing something. I see that 1 ppm = 1mg per 1 litre, correct? So if I have a 46 gallon/174 litre tank and I want to dose 2 ppm to see how much ammonia my plants will use up in 24 hours, then I need 348 mg of ammonia. What do I use to measure this? Again,  I'm sure I'm just completely missing something...my brain is busy being stressed out and crazy from work and moving, it doesn't like to figure anything out, no matter how simple lol.

You need to go here.
Right down at the bottom of the page is the ammonia calculator. Just enter the volume of the tank (deduct about 15% for the decor, plants etc), change the desired level to 2ppm (default is 5) and check that your ammonia solution is 9.5%, changing that value if it is different. The last box will tell you how much to add.

Using your figures, 150 litres (your tank less the decor etc); 2ppm ammonia and a 9.5% solution, you need to add 3.16ml. You might find a syringe or pipette useful.
