How To Keep Sand Clean?

tried using a gravel vac but brings to much sand up, is there another way or any tips on doin it,
no fish in a the mo doin a fishless cycle,
but im hoping to get some kind of plec to help maintain the tank

I was looking for that the other day cause I am hoping to have a tank with sand substrate.

Sand looks good, but when i clean it, it goes cloudy for 24 hrs till it starts to become clear

Did ya rinse the sand before putting it in the tank? Only asking because I have had sand for ages and never had a problem at all. Also to the OP, get a technique going where you hold the vac an inch or so above the sand. If the vac is big enough you can just place it on the sand for a second and it will bring up some sand and then it will drop back down taking only the lighter poop.

Yeah i washed the sand about 3-4 times in a big plastic box, drained water then added to tank
it dont help that mt lfs did not give me any help or advice on how to plant amazom swords and sea grass so they have been rotting and all sorts
ill just keep trying with the vac
