How To Increase Algae Growth?

Hi guys,

I'm sure this is gonna sound dumb but......

How I can increase the algae growth in my tank as I do like the 'green' effect on trop tanks and dont mind scrubbing it to keep it under control.

What causes algae growth in tanks and what reduces it?

Sorry for the dumb question but ive been dipping my feet in marine for the last few months and have got out of touch with tropical!....

More light helps algae to grow so either upgrade lighting or keep the light on for more hours. co2 or liquid carbon reduce algae a lot so don't use that.

excess nutrients dont cause algae. leaving your lights on longer as others have said will do it .
