Hello everyone. I woke up this morning and found my kenyi cichild getting sucked up in the filter. I quickly got him out and put him in a hospital tank. His fins are damaged and a lot of his scales are missing. Can someone please help me. This is my first time healing a injured fish.

Right if he's in issolation with losing scales i would use a bacterial med, how many scales are missing.

If there was only abit of damage i would of said melafix, but if there is quite alot of scales missing to be on the safe side I think a bacterial med.

Also you need to address the filter so it dosn't happen again, maybe put a net or a pair of tight over it with a rubber band.

The only fish (with the exception of bettas and fry) that I have ever seen having a problem with the intake of a filter are sick fish and I have never heard of a filter being able to rip off scales. I agree with wilder that it is a bacterial infection and would treat with antibiotics. Also, check your main tank's water stats to make sure that isn't part of the problem. Keep an eye on the rest of your fish for symptoms as well.

Adding aquarium salt can also help.
Good luck!

He is only a baby. My friend's kenyis bred so he gave me one.

He is not eating anything and he is just staying on the bottom. How long will it take for him to heal?

He sounds stressed from the ordeal, just hope he's got the strength to pull through, but it's not sounding to good at the moment, sorry,i would add a bit of salt to his tank with him being stressed just two teaspoons.

As long as it won't blow him all over the place i would.
