Hello,
We just started keeping adf's in our 10 gallon---really loving them more than I thought I would----anyway, we had two and went to get a third the other day. With the previous ones the person at the store just grabbed the frog with her hand. When we went to get the third one the person (a real loon, but that's another story) got him out with a net. When we got him home we realized he had lost more than half of an arm, we didn't notice it was missing before she netted him. We kept an eye on him and he was able to get up for air and after he settled in was pretty active so we kept him. Over the next couple of days his stump was getting more white so I assume that was infection. He was still quite active, but this morning I found him dead in the tank. Poor little thing.
After all my ramblings, my question is: is it better to catch them with your hand or a net?
Thanks in advance

I catch mine with either one. Sometimes I have a really hard time netting them so I just grab them. I think grabbing them is probably less rough for them as well. It seems like the net scares them more. I don't think there is a right or wrong way to pick them up but as you know they are delicate and shouldn't be rough handled. But yeah I seem to have better luck picking them up with my hands. Hope that helps. :)

i have four adf and theyre all real docile. i can pick them up with my hand and thay don seem to mind, but they are harder to net. i'd say the same as the other poster just as long as your careful i dont think it matters.
