How To Ger Ride Of Tannins

Hello,

is there any way I could get rid of the tannins im my tank? i put a peice of treated drift wood in there and tannins have dyed the water. right now i only have some live plants and cory cats in there but a discus will be moving in soon. im making a run to the pet shop so if there is any kind of treatment that wouldnt be to hard on the plants/fish that would be great!

Water changes is really the only way to remove tannins, on the other hand, tannins are harmless and will stop leaking out of the wood sooner or later .

Your discus will love the tannins in there. Leave them in.

I agree, i also find that if you have any silver metallic fish in the tank, their coloring tends to stand out more when the tank is stained by tannins .
