How To Empty Sand And Cat Litter?

Hi, I'm wondering of anyone can tell me the best way I can empty sand and cat litter out of my fish tank?
The cat litter keeps coming to the top and since I'm not having plants anymore I'm going to empty it all and just put fresh sand in.

Take your gravel syphon, and pull off the plastic end. Then just use the pipe and siphon the sand out, water will obv come out aswell, but you can just keep tipping that back in

did this today in my 120g , put the fish in temporary housing. then i drained down the tank and used a jug to scoop it all out...............DO NOT DO IT LIKE THIS!!!!!!!! tokk me ages and made a right mess. the missus was well chuffed!!

in fact shes still got the hump now lol , thank god im off out to play poker tonight , give her time to come round

Ha! Well ill try the syphon first, should i keep much water from the tank or give it all fresh water? Maybe keep 40% water from the tank ?

syphon it through a stocking or pillow case and that way you can save as much water as you want with verry little sand in it
