Alright, my new 125 Gallon arrives tomorrow but I have a slight problem. I need to put it where the dual 55 Gallons are right now but I only have on other tank readily available and it has my puffers in it. :(

I'm going to be emptieing it but I have no clue how to pull off this move. :/ Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Larry

well when i move my tanks, i take all the fish out and get a large bucket and put them in there, and if it takes a long time i put my filter or air pump and heater in the bucket aswell

then i siphon out all the water and move the tank,

im not sure about your problem though

isnt there anywhere else to put the tanks? or maybe you can do a DIY stand?

As DD mentioned get a very large bucket ( or buckets depending on the amount of fish) fill them with tank water and put your fish in them. I assume the fish are going to go into the 125 so the best thing to do would be get another series of containers/buckets/drums and store as much of the original tank water in them. Drain the 2 55's into these containers/drums/buckets and move them out of the way so you can fit the 125 gallon in  Get all your substrate (pre washed) in, and fill the aquarium using the water you saved and then attach all the equipment. Finally just release the fish into their new tank :)

Try keep this process as short as possible. It's always best to get a few firends to come an help you. Also try keeping the water you saved in a warm room so it dosn't loose too much heat.

Thats pretty much what i would do :) Good luck!

What if you don't have any friends :-( :dunno:

The advice posted is the way I'd go.
I purchased a 60ltr rubbish bim for just this job
when changeing for a 30 to a 72 gall
the whole process took 8 hrs but the fish all survived
and now love their new home :)

The problem here is space. I sold both of my 55 Gallons and the new owner will be picking them up next weekend. Only one of them currently contains fish and water so it isn't "as bad" as it sounds. My primary concern is for the fish and my biggest problem is in moving the 55 Gallon from it's current location. :/

If I didn't need to move the 55 Gallon the problem wouldn't exist because the new tank is getting all new Playsand Substrate and I have extra rocks if I need them in order to avoid moving the current rocks, although I intend to move them.

I will be keeping the filter that is currently on the 55 Gallon, but everything else is coming with the other tank.
